We're also forming a one-day workshop, time & date to be scheduled according to student request. Call Muse for details.
Remember David Hockney's fascinating and controversial book, Secret Knowledge? Then you've heard about the camera lucida, a drawing tool dating back to Renaissance times. Almost like magic, the camera lucida makes an image of your subject appear right on your drawing surface so you can trace exact lines and proportions. It's a great helper for laying out a drawing of any object from real life - landscapes, figures, or still lifes. We've finally found two models of the camera lucida that are well designed, easy to use, and affordable. We have one set up at Muse to demonstrate and try for yourself. You'll be hooked!
fun with playmaisPlaymais modeling blocks are meant for kids, but they're proving irresistible for all ages! Playmais are nontoxic, biodegradable modeling blocks made from corn starch and vegetable dyes. You can construct simple figures, mobiles, elaborate dioramas, or stick them onto surfaces to make pictures or decorate objects. A versatile introduction to art for the very young, and a lot of fun for older kids and even adults.
