FEATURED ARTIST:
MONTE SHELTON Monte’s work in oils, gouache and drawing represent paradox
in light and shadow, fire and water, cold and hot, life and death – tensions
that holds an image on canvas and allow it to come to life. These
tensions are symbolic of the tension that exists in physical matter
and hold all things together. Her imagery is a fusion of observation
and imagination, portraying the energies that illuminate and emanate
in the natural world. Monte has worked as an artist and educator in the Portland area
for 21 years. She has taught in public and private school environments,
as well as community, corporate, and government institutions.
Monte’s
most recent showing, “Night Energies,” runs
through February at the Ross Ragland Theatre in Klamath Falls,
Oregon. Several of her paintings and drawings will be on display
through December at Muse Art and Design, including three
large works in oil. For more information about Monte and her work,

WORD
OF THE DAY TO DRAW Got the urge
to create but having a hard time getting started?. A great way
to get the
creative process going is to pick a subject
at random and just start drawing! You might end up with a few fun
scribbles in a sketchbook, or you might not stop until you’ve
created a masterpiece! You may have noticed a small chalkboard
in the store that says, “Draw every day--Today’s word
to draw is _______.” Every day we put up a new word to inspire
your imagination. The wall behind the register is already starting
to fill up with drawings inspired by the Word of the Day. Come
check out today’s word and make drawing a daily activity!
